Luang Prabang – Cruising the Mekong – Pak Ou caves – Kamu Lodge – Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden – Luang Prabang
Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang - City Tour
Pick up at the airport and transfer into town. Embark on a short orientation city tour visiting the main sites including Wat Xiengthong, Royal Palace Museum, or Mount Phousi. Enjoy the dinner at the local restaurant with traditional dance & folk song. Stroll around the colorful night market before coming back to your hotel for the night
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to check in the hotel. After a soft rest, start your “6-Day Kamu Lodge Adventure” with the visit to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. We then, visit Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts.
Continue to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-relief, which is one of the most beautiful temples in town. If time permits, we will take a short walk around the small streets of city center, watching the life of local people.
Late afternoon, we climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic sunset view of the city and the Mekong River.
The welcome dinner will be served at the local restaurant with traditional dance & folk song, the best chance for you to have the first impression on Lao culture.
The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 2: Cruise the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves and Kamu Lodge
Join the cruise upstream the mighty Mekong to Kamu Lodge. Visit the mysterious Pak Ou caves along the way. In the afternoon, try some activities as the local people, and visit the nearby villages. Spend the night at the safari tent in the middle of the paddy field.
After breakfast at the hotel, board on a traditional Long River boat at Kamu Lodge pier at 08:30am and take a leisurely cruise upstream while enjoying the refreshments served on the boat.
Marvel at the thousands of gold Buddha statues placed in sacred Pak Ou caves by devotees. Most people failed to marvel at Pak Ou towering limestone cliff.
Continue upriver and you would reach Kamu Lodge around noon. A Refreshing welcome drink is served. You can check into your super-size tents with attached modern bathroom amenities and facilities.
You will enjoy lunch in an airy SALA settled in the middle of rice paddy fields. After lunch, you can choose to either relax or to enjoy the traditional Kamu lifestyles and activities such as rice planting and harvesting in surrounding rice fields, gold panning in the Mekong (anything you find is Yours!), traditional fishing techniques (you can sample your catch for dinner!), visit of the Kamu village, archery contest.
Dinner is a feast by Kamu tribe standards. We want you to see the world from the Kamu’s eyes. After dinner, retire to your tent.
Day 3: Kamu Lodge Exploration
Embark on a 4-hour easy trek to the hidden waterfalls along the Mekong river bank and some paddy field. Enjoy the picnic by the waterfalls before walking back to the resort. In the afternoon, join some local activities such as petanque or bath in the Mekong, or enjoy the traditional massage.
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to go for a 4-hour trek in the surrounding forest to the waterfall (trekking grade: moderate/challenging).
You will enjoy a picnic lunch to the waterfall. On your way back to the Lodge, you will visit one village along the Mekong River.
In the afternoon, you will have time to relax enjoying leisure activities available on site such as bathe in the Mekong, one hour Lao traditional massage, “pétanque” contest (…)
Dinner is served at the restaurant. After Dinner, you can retire to your tent.
Day 4: Cruise back to Luang Prabang
Free in the morning for your own exploration of the lodge or the surrounding area. Join the boat transfer back to Luang Prabang in the afternoon
In the morning, you are free to stroll around the lodge or the nearby village. We will take the boat back to Luang Prabang after lunch.
We arrive in Luang Prabang at around 4PM, transfer to your hotel. Free for the rest of the day. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 5: Explore Pha Tad Ke Garden
Wake up early to join the daily morning alms giving and explore the local temporary morning market. In the morning, stroll around the first and only botanical garden in Laos, Pha Tad Ke Garden. Learn about the bio-system in Laos.
In the afternoon, we explore the surrounding area of the garden before joining the workshop about Lao Traditional Medicinal Herbal Teas. This workshop introduces you to the rich ethno botanic heritage of the Lao people and their medicinal herbs. Learn how these herbs can make our everyday life healthier and more balanced. Take the boat back to Luang Prabang whilst the sun is setting behind the mountains
Wake up as the sun rises, we will prepare to join the most sacred tradition of Laos, the daily morning alms giving, which dates to the 14th century. More than 200 Buddhist monks depart from various temple to gather their daily meal from the faithful residents sitting quietly on the streets.
From there, we will visit the temporary morning market near the former Royal Palace. Just set on the ground, the local people come here to barter their day’s catch from rice, to vegetable, to fish, or chicken. This is the best chance to experience the flavor of local life.
Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the meeting point in town. The Pha Tad Ke boat departs Ban Wat That at 9:00 (please be at the pier at 8:45). Enjoy a 15-minute leisurely boat trip down the Mekong River. Upon arrival at Pha Tad Ke Botanic Garden reception you will be given a short presentation about the gardens. After that, walk through the Ginger Garden and the Ethno-botanic Garden, which is the centrepiece of the garden.
Follow the path through the Limestone Walk and take in the amazing mountainous Mekong landscape. Learn how to make a bamboo stick animal at the site of the hunting lodge of the former royal family. Then continue your tour of Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden walking through the Arboretum, Palm Garden, and Bamboo Garden to our viewpoint that overlooks the rice field.
Stop by the Mist House where you will learn more about the importance of biodiversity conservation and finish your excursion with an optional orchid talk at Pha Tad Ke Nursery. All of the gardens will have introductory panels and labels. You can always ask our expert staff should you have any questions or require more information.
Enjoy a delicious Lao set lunch at Pha Tad Ke’s café. After lunch embark on a trek following a limestone path to the Pha Tad Ke cave. Inside you will find rustic Buddhist shrines. Return to the Pha Tad Ke café for a refreshing beverage and snack some delicious Lao delicacies.

Finish your workshop at about 17:00 with some more free time to spend walking around the gardens or relaxing in the restaurant.
The boat will depart back to Luang Prabang at 17:30. Transfer back to your hotel by tuk tuk. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 6: Departure
Free to stroll around the town for your own exploration before taking the departure flight
